In my opinion, learning a
language does not require a lot of theory, but requires a lot of continuous
practice. Like a knife, it must be sharpened frequently to keep it sharp so
that it is useful, if the knife is never sharpened, its sharpness will slowly
decrease and soon become dull. English is the same, and I have long experience
in learning it since elementary, middle, and high school.
When I was in elementary school,
English was not as popular as it is today. Plus, my school is a village school
far from the urban crowds. But in the fourth grade I got English lessons. I'm
very happy I also like singing English songs, my favorite songs are songs from
my father's era such as Gun and Rosses, Metalica , Queen , Halloween, and many
more. I like my father's favorite songs that I listen to every day. I think my father
is really cool, the English learning system at my school is really bad, it's not
that strict, I often get free hours because the English teacher in elementary
school is not specifically available. This makes me angry and dissatisfaction .
English in Junior High School is
more exciting, serious, fun, dense, and fun. Because my father sent me to an
international junior high school. who use English every day in the delivery of
their lessons. This is a support from my father because I really like English.
in the crowd, my father and I always used English to chat, so we were free to
chat without understanding other people, a kind of password that only my father
and I understood.
During my high school years I
felt it was time to improve myself, I had to start caring more about myself and
start thinking about the future. I attended a public high school. I felt that
English lessons at school were not enough to develop my English skills.
Meanwhile, in the course more speaking practice is taught. I started to believe
in myself. I also tried to take part in the English quiz competition. Even
though at that time I didn't win, but at least I fought. During the practical
exam, students are required to sing English songs fluently, without text, and
with proper pronunciation. The task of practicing singing English songs is not
too hard, but it makes me happy. because I belong to a band and my English song
repertoire is quite a lot because I like English songs. Favorite songs from
bands such as Dream theater, Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park and many more.
The people who accompanied me on
my English journey were my father and my best friend, my best friend and I
really liked music. My father supported us by buying me music equipment so we
formed a band, with other friends who have the same hobby, we play music in
cafes, and now I'm studying at majoring in English literature, hopefully I hope
to find a profession that speaks English.
